View Full Version : How do I flatten polygons?

I have been converting a bunch of models from STEP and IGES to LWO via Moi3D.

Some polygons are messed up, and won't render. I figured I'd check something I've never used.. And yup, my suspicions were a fact: the polygons are not flat..

How do I flatten a polygon ? I've searched and read a little, only major help I found was "merge points" - and so I did. It solved a few problem areas, but not all. Any tools I'm missing out on?

I'm using Mac.

The easiest way, if you're talking about non-planar polys, is to go to polygon mode, open the polygon statistics panel (w on PC, not sure with mac), then click the + sign next to non-planar. This selects all the non-planar polys, so now you can triple them (shift-T). You could also try "Unify Polys" in the Detail tab, which should eliminate polygons that are exactly on top of each other if I'm not mistaken.
