The motion capture library link thread

feel free to add links to motion capture librairies and extend this thread for all to use, if possible can we keep the chatter down on this thread and just make it LINKS and maybe a brief overview of each lib and maybe a user review of the content if you have personally used the mocap lib in question.

for general discussion on motion capture i'll add a separate thread for that.
which you can find here>>>>
http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=105367

most common motion capture file type is .bvh and lightwave imports .bvh natively.
in addition many 3rd party plugins and applications also use .bvh as the prefered motion capture file type.

for a free .bvh viewer go here:

e-motek
http://www.e-motek.com/entertainment/stockmoves/index.html

i bought their stock moves bundle pak a few years ago and find that they are okay, nothing spectacular and lots of 'idle' captures and short captures, for the price is was pretty good investment and added to mainly my 'misc' area of mo cap.

you get over a 1000 motions for 45 euros and it also ships with converters.
so all in all pretty good value.

motek have lightwave data output too that gives you a lws scene...of course you can also load up bvh as normal

eclipse studios

http://www.es3d.com/index2.html

they have libries for daz/poser and also 3dsmax biped

http://www.es3d.com/sitebuilder/images/mocapmainbmp-600x383.png

so they're for Poser/Daz plus 3dsmax biped.

personally i bought their 11 bundle pak a while ago for biped and found them to be pretty good, though some of the feet look somewhat 'slidy' so they're not perfect in their capture and i think that they don't data clean up the captures, your just given the raw output in the file..warts n all!

they look to have 4 new paks out...might go for them in the nr future.
Still, they're cheap and you can fix up some of it pretty quick...or just move the camera away from the offending item!

i've not tried out the bvh files for daz/poser into lightwave or 3dsmax ..they may work...or not...

various motion captures...just found this today...so no big details on what formats, quality and such as yet.
just looking now at the The Legendary MCS Gig Plus to see what format they are in as they also list quadroped motion capture in this lib.

okay these seem to be in .trc format need to find a converter for that to .bvh otherwise it's a no go
