I hope this isnt a stupid question but is it possible to run 32 bit versions of LW on a 64 bit machine?

I don't use LW as my main 3D app and therefore I am still running version 8.5 and 9 which suits my needs, but I have to get a new workstation that will probably be a 64 bit machine.

Is it the case that these older versions will run on a 64 bit machine but just wont utilise the 64 bit?

Thanks

Yes, no problems.
I've got everything from 7.5 onwards running on XP64.

Cheers,
Mike

Most things will run in 32 bit mode on a 64 bit machine if there's not a 64 bit version of the software. Some people will run 32 bit Lightwave so that they can still use some plug-ins which have not been ported yet to 64 bit. I've only found a few exceptions of software that will not run with my 64 bit version of Windows.

Just on a side note, Lightwave 8.5 users got a 64bit version of it for free when the app was in its prime and patches were coming out. I have Lightwave 8.5 64bit in my Lightwave roughwork folder which I remember downloading when it was released. But I've never used it as I don't currently have a 64bit computer.
