if modeler have multiple layers, layout should have it as well.

Not sure I follow you on this one. What exactly would we gain from that?

Well...LW10 aka LWHC, is only there as a transition to Core1....a temporally stop gap measure, for animation and renders that Core can't do at the moment etc.

Well technically there are layers in Layout. When you bring a model over from modeler with more then one layer, they show up as their own objects in properties. With that, you can control their visibility or can lock selection of each layer in the scene editor. Each layer can have it's own pivot point as well in Layout. So really you have all the benefits of modelers layers, its just the approach that's a little different.
Bottom line though is we're not going to see a Lightwave 10, at least not in the sense that they are further developing Lightwave 9. CORE is the new development platform.

Modeler layer = Object

Layout layer = Object

Mission complete.

There is a group tool, I believe it is in the additional plug in list. However, as far as I can see all it does it parent the objects to a main object. Which can easily be done several other ways.

I think the fact of having layers in Layout would be, as in XSI, to make easy rendering different passes...
Am I right?
Thinking on this way, I think Lightwave should implement that on next releases.

Thanks!

I thought the scene editor allowed for item management, including some objects rendering features/flags.

why stop at 9.6.1 and not make 10 is beyond me...

i mean... LW 10 !!!

go from there... sounds so more logic to me..
also as a final friendly goodbye to the lw we love(d)..

LWHC is LW 10, so will be there for that final goodbye before CORE takes over properly :)

Perhaps they will when its released - I don't think anything is set in stone until then :)

LW9.6.1HC is only available for HardCore members.
i hope there will be a public LW10 or even LW11 because Core is a complete new software and it will not replace lightwave for some years. thats what i think...
