View Full Version : whats the easiest way to conver .mb to lightwave?

I just downloaded Polytrans and it looks like you have to have maya in order to convert maya formats. Is that true? Whats the point then? If I had Maya I wouldn't need to use Polytrans to convert.
I'm just trying the Polytrans demo right now.

Are there any other / free ways to convert Maya files to a Lightwave compatable format? I've got dozens of files I need to convert.

nice. thanks for the blender tip!

they were just static objects. there were over 40 of them so I just bought the LWO pack and saved myself the hassle.

I can't see anything about loading .mb or .ma in blender, did you get them as .obj?

Maya can be (usually is) a procedural modeling app, hence needing maya to interpret the file's 'instructions' on how to build an object. You can freeze it of course, so all that's left is the mesh data.

go get the 30day demo of maya and use that to export your maya models as obj or fbx
