This feels ridiculous..
But isnīt there a center object segments by selected point command in lightwave in modeler ?

Ive been looking for plugins for it but, it seems to be down.

Im not after center object F2, but need to center an asymmetric object to
the origin point by selecting a created center point on that segment.

Does it make any sense?
I must be missing something here..:hey:

I wrote a script for this.

(Edit: Would help if I attached it properly eh!)

The last option in the plugin above works in conjunction with the Coords storing facility in this package of plugins.

I need to do a new video to show off this set.

Thanks matt..I guess im not doing it right thou..
the first tests just moved the point and not the whole segments.

I could move and fine tune by using lw grid and snap. but I rather not
since the object is a bit complex.

heres a sample pic of what I mean, very simplified.
the point selected should then be used as center reference and move
those two segments to the center origin.

Yes, it works like this:

Select first point you want to use as the align datum on the object to be moved.

Then select connected (or lasso the rest)

Then lastly, select the point on the target object

If you open up each script in a text editor, instructions are in there.

well yeah, as shown on youtube..the plugin works okay, but needs a selected point reference to move to, Ume_center by pictrix doesnīt need
that, just select your center point and run the script and it automaticly
centers the object segment to the world origins without having to create or select another point for final position.

itīs of course more powerful perhaps using a ref point, but in my case
I only needed it to move to the origins with itīs base around selected center, and doing it without creating other points or geometry is faster.

Thankīs Matt for your plugin and all your wonderful tutorials.

I run in to some problems thou with the pictrix ume_center..

It worked fine on some minor objects, but when I tried it on the machines Im working on..it just freezes, but then again the models are perhaps to
heavy in polycount 398000, imported from solidworks to stl....Maybe some
cleaning up is necessary or import it with lesser polys.

Modeler doesn't really like lots of point selections / poly selections...
