View Full Version : LightWave Mac v9.6 Hotfix and Cocoa Update - 2 Dec 2009

Hi, Mac 'Wavers! :)

Welcome to this week's progress note on our Mac development activities!

Cocoa/Hotfix LightWave v9.6.1: The team is making good progress on fixing bugs and tuning the Cocoa edition of LightWave. The second build was issued a few weeks back, and we are working on getting the third build out in the next week or so.

Among the issues of note, we will be providing some additional information on the SDK changes resulting from Cocoa. These are actually more limited than many might expect, but the most important is that we've determined that it will not be practical to try to handle Carbon UI calls from plug-ins; the plug-ins will need instead to be updated to support Cocoa in order to interact with v9.6.1. An example of this is the UI blanking issue that some plug-ins display when running with v9.6.1. We have begun communicating with third parties about the specific changes involved and what will need to be done to update their plug-ins.

Next week, the team again gathers in San Antonio for discussions, planning and coding for all three active development branches on the LightWave line, LightWave CORE, LightWave HC (companion version for LWCORE, internally versioned at v10.0), and LightWave v9.6.1. We expect to have a busy and productive week, and will try to post another Mac development update during the week, but may need to catch you all up on the news the week after, instead.

That's it for this week!
