Is there an easy way to make text higher resolution than you get with the standard text tool?

I am doing very high resolution renders and text always ends up a bit jagged looking even with smoothing turned on.

Besides drawing the text is there a way to increase the resolution (poly count)?

Thanks!

The easiest would be to create the text in Illustrator and import that it in...I would think.

In Modeler, you could cut your n-gons into quads, but that could be time consuming depending on how complex it is.

Create the text in Illustrator. You can use the EPSF importer and select the resolution when you import it. Putting it on "FINE" will generate a pretty dense mesh. That's what I usually do when I have a logo or something that needs to be close to the camera. Be sure to save your AI file as an older version. I usually drop back to version 3. Old, but works! I have an EPSF loader tutorial here if you want it:
