Have you tried the car paint material?...should be very easy to come up with something glittery and reflective, just about every possible look you could require in that material.

I wonder where the connection between Santa Claus and christmas balls lies?

Santa Claus comes from the European 'Sint-Nicolas' and was brought to the US where it changed to Santa Claus later on. Strange enough, our 'Sint-Nicolas' is December 6th. The red color and beard comes actually from a Coca-Cola commercial in 1931. Imagine that :)

here's the ball, will require a rescale as I just threw it together, but a simple scale at origin should be fine. :)

Yeah, and I have to make 2 cards this year and no idea yet for either :(.

I hoped FFX would be working like a charm by now to make a nice tree.

I know :), you told me then too. I just wanted to have a tree or branche made with FFX. It should work perfectly for this kind of things. But it is so slow and certainly not failure proof :(. Oh welll, I still have some months to think about the topics.

erikals
09-21-2010, 06:22 PM
this should work, bit time consuming though...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBYb7gun1G4

model 1 big branch, then clone it and cut it, lastly, deform the branches until you have a complete tree.

(edit, looking again, i think Matt's method should work with some tweaks)

Just an idea, but compiling all of these links and maybe an image to go with it would make a nice pdf or web page.
