:(
Come on, NT people!
Is there any miniREVELATION about LW8 which we may know or see?
Siggraph is gone, and i=am here browsing the forum, but nothing
new. I think there are many others like me.
I know you are working hard and i believe LW8 will be a masterpiece. yes i really believe that.
But, we are waiting hard also.

Can you show something new to us? or this is absolutely impossible?

LW8 NEWS - There is no news :p

I remember Proton saying they had to get some patent permissions or something for modeler before they could show it and that's why they didn't show it at Siggraph? If that's true I'd like to hear how many patents is lightwave using at the moment? :p

Absolutely Impossible!

:D

Back to what I have. Tomorrow will be here when it gets here.

(I don't work for NewTek -- but a loyal user, I am. But this just begged for a comment. 'Proton' says he will release something when they let him. Let's just wait for that.)

come on guys - LW8 will be released sooner or later and until then let the developers do their job without always pushing them for some previews ;)

Just be happy with 7.5c or get the soon to be released HalfLife 2 - that will keep you busy for a while ;)

Just out of intrest i wonder if I'll be able to import models etc into the Halflife map builders etc.. from Lightwave 7.5c/8 as the new Halflife seems to be really into the XSI side of things any one any ideas.

waiting for patent permissions?

well thats a good sign. could be anything from nurbs to some other new tech. in any case sounds like a good reason to be excited.

hey if I can wait a whole year for the next LOTR movie i can hold out to feb for LW8

(i said feb not newtek so don't panic it's just a date i picked)

I think "have patience, I have to get permission first"

became "patients, need permission"

which became patient permission"

which finally became "patent permission"

:D

LOL .. ok, maybe someone could help me out. I've been doing some searching for about 20 minutes and can't find the post I'm looking for. I'm fairly sure it was proton (it was either him, Deuce or Lee) was saying they couldn't show modeler because it was already thursday afternoon, and the chance of then doing something (I thought it was about getting a patent I swear ..) by friday was very unlikely so the chance of showing it at sig on monday was very low. Possibly I'm crazy ... so is it true Deuce and Proton are having a baby?!

Yes, the panting position is a favorite among college students.

Perhaps if we had the X,Y, and Z coordinates of this new position, it could tell us something about Lightwave 8.

Karmacop it was Lee before Siggraph

Karmacop

Ahh, thank you very much :)

From http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=55176&highlight=modeler#post55176

"There are a number of things underway for Modeler 8.0, but there are some technical and busiess related issues that need to be worked out, and if they aren't worked out now they won't be by Tuesday, I don't think."

So it was Lee ... and I just presumed the technical and buisness stuff was patents ... my bad :(

But I'd like information that we couldn't possibly use ... like saying "there will be around 20 new features in modeler" or "my favourite new feature takes up 2000 lines of code" ... just stupid things, but atleast we'd know you're still there Proton ;)

yesterday I had cought a goldenfish. I threw her back, and she gave me three wishes.

I told her:
1. Give Proton the word to show us screenshots of LW 8
2. Give us ngons, edges, and local coordinates with transform manipulator to modeller
3. Give Proton the word to show us screenshots of LW 8

I hope she keep her promises...

"Improved workflow in Layout and Modeler" is now on the official
LW8-feature list...whatever it means...

I want to see only this::
1 :: Surface Editor & Texture Editor
2 :: Rendering Options panel
3 :: Any new Plugin's Interface

Is this to much for the moment ??:(

Think about if Newtrek concentrate on developing more functions for the modeler rather than waiting patent approvals from the third parties...

Then we should have the function list earlier.

Yeah, me thinks Lee got a bit hot without reading the whole "this thread is a joke.... let's have some fun!" part of it.

But, I understand how he was feeling: it's his word being bandied about.

But I'm telling you: the pumpkin apache copter they said modeler was being delivered in crashed on the way to the show. The pilot walked away safely though: he had patented arialdownchute on.

Really ? LightWave was used in the upcoming Garfield movie for the scene with the Barking Ody ? Another blockbuster on our belt then !!
Got tell it to me friends...

Karmacop
09-06-2003, 08:46 AM
Yeah sorry Lee, the whole patent thing was me mis-remembering :(

And Garfield ... damn .. wish someone would think of a good original idea so I can go to the movies once in a while and not feel ripped off ...
