View Full Version : Collada Import?

I'm running the Cocoa version of 9.6 and am trying to import a Collada-formatted scene. The documentation says that .dae files load just like .lws files, but I only get an error message "Unknown scene file format".

I've also tried importing the sample .dae files that come with Photoshop CS3 Extended and also get an error: "Object loading fails".

Am I missing something? Is there some other plugin for loading these files?

I'm not sure how things are on the Mac, but I guess there should be a plugin called Valkyrie.p. It's the one that takes care of Collada and FBX loading/saving. Make sure you add it to LW and try again.

EDIT: Oh...and could you attach some of those sample .dae files?

LW9.6 is not Cocoa, the current 9.6.1 beta is :)

Reload your plugins, make sure you're not running 9.3 and 9.6 or even 9.6.1 off the same preference file.

I haven't played with Collada but...does it load in the program that it was made in?

Cocoa 9.6 is 9.6.1 and therefore this post should better be in the Open Beta forum section.

All Mac UniversalBinary-plugins end ".plugin"
(the .p suffix is PPC /
path: LW9.6.x > SharedSupport > plugins > InputOutput > Valkyrie.plugin).

Are you trying to import from Layout or from Modeler?
If you post a sample file in the OpenBeta forum (have only .obj in my PS CS3, no .dae), I also would check, if I'm getting the same error.
