Early 90's I think. After Steve Jobs was booted out of Apple he came up with Next Step which folded in 1994.

Yeah, 1984 the NeXT computer. I remember with lust and amazement it was described as having a drive with writable optical media that was a "gigaflop".

I think the only color Mac back then was the Apple Lisa? Wasn't that the one before the Apple IIgs?

lisa was earlier and the "gigaflop" the billion floating points per second measure. How time flies!
