View Full Version : Particles Emitting Basic Geometry Help

I feel like this is a really basic question but I'd appreciate some thoughts.

My goal is to have a simple emitter create particles that travel along a wind animation path, simple and easy enough. The particles themselves I want to be simple squares. So I've been using FXlinker, which works more or less but is really slow and becomes a pain when the particle count gets 'high' (say 2000 particles across a few emitters).

Is there a way to get particles to look like simple squares without having to replicate an object through FXlinker which just makes my scene filled with thousands of unique objects?

It's a mess to have them all show up as objects, I'd prefer them just to be 'particles' controlled only by the emitter.

2D(and sorta 3D) programs with emitters like Motion do this really well, anything similar in Lightwave?

Any thoughts?

Try using the DP Kit's Part Move:

Also, if you just want squares, you can try sprite clips.

I need to check out that DP kit but that Sprite Clip idea is exactly what I needed.

This will help me a lot, thanks!
