I have a particle emitter with HVs. If I set the HVs to surface or sprite they will cast shadows. If I set HVs to volume they will receive shadows, self shadow, but will NOT cast shadows. Has anyone else encountered this? Is this a bug?

What version? All three are casting shadows fine for me with 9.6 64 bit on Vista.
