Is there a way to stream to the iPhone?

I stream wmv. Is it possible to have that stream picked up by another encoder that would convert it to an iPhone format?

I believe that was his way of telling you that you should post this question in a different forum. Tips & Tricks is a place for stuff you've figured out, not what you're working on. Maybe a Tricaster - Community or General Support would be a good spot.

Not that I know. Apple won't allow flash to be ported to the iPhone.

I believe the 3.0 release added more support for streaming but the tricaster does not support streaming to Darwin Streaming Server which would be a requirement

Kulabyte is offering a stand alone streaming solution to the IPhone for 495$ until the end of 2009. Then it's 1495$. You can use this software with a DV input or AJA or Decklink cards as input.

Livestream offers a free program called procaster that allows for Iphone streaming that plays through safari and quicktime.
There is a demo of the system on youtube:
And the download itself:

I've had decent luck so far with Livestream. Video out from Tricaster through a deck to a laptop via iLink (firewire).

Not the prettiest solution, but it looks and sounds good on iPhone and was a clear-cut setup.

Still haven't tested in a full broadcast environment, though. Wonder how stable it is with 50, 100, 1000 viewers?

This is actually pretty simple to do with the Wowza Media Server. What I've done is to use a Wowza Media Server 2.0 running as an Amazon EC2 instance for something like 40 cents per hour. You can stream H.264 Flash to the Server and it will create both a Flash stream as well as an HTTP playlist stream for the iPhone. You just need to redirect your viewers of your web site based on their browser type to the playlist file that the Wowza server creates.

Start here:

You might also need the upgrade to the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder to support the AAC audio format, I haven't been able to get audio using MP3 with H.264 video. AAC is available as an option from Main Concept.

Here is a the product from other post that will handle iphone streaming:

And here is a post on how to set it up with the tricaster that might be useful:

Wowza Media server is the best option. I have personally tested the Mainconcept AAC plugin on TriCaster and it works just fine. I know there are many CDNs working on backend transcoding for mobile devices.

There is a Ustream viewer app for the iphone. I am a VT5 user but think that you can also stream using tricaster in the sameway. The only downside it that you have to search for your live stream in the app instead of having a url to go to.

Thanks for the heads up. The need for a simple solution is growing.

Even my wife got an iPhone after dunking hers in the lake this weekend.
If she's on board, the iPhone MUST be taking hold. :D
