We've just prepped the section for when we do start. When we launch Open Beta, there will be a public post in the NewTek 3D Announcements Section.

Hmm..Im wondering if 9.6.1 would be a different platform to lightwave 10 hc version. I just watched the paint deform video and it showed lw 10 hc july build that is linked to lw core without a hub.
So there would be 4 software now? :D
lw 9.6.1
modeller 9.6.1
lw 10 hc
lw core.

9.6.1 will be just bugfixes for 9.6, while LWHC will be able to work with Core and has some new features.

argh.
I'm confused. Is there confirmation on this?
Is this next version of LW... IE: HC or v10, or whatever... going to be the definitive next version of Lightwave?

LWHC connects to LWCORE, i realise that (sounds good btw), but why have two seperate versions of Lightwave3D to install? IE: 9.6.1 and HC/v10 ??

Not to mention the fact that surely down the line, NewTek will have to spread precious programming resources across numerous incarnations of Lightwave.

LWHC replaces LW.

SaturnX, you won't

LW9.6.1 will be for the ones that haven't/ won't upgrade to Core,
LWHC will be for the users of Core.

so, it might be LWHC has some extra features that LW9.6.1 won't have...

LW9.6.1 will basically be bug fixes.

Since 9.6.1 will probably be the fixes / improvements worked on for LWHC there shouldn't be as much spreading out of resources as you might think.

LW9.6.1 will be for the ones that haven't/ won't upgrade to Core, --- 1st

LWHC will be for the users of Core.
---2nd

plus core --- 3rd

plus modeller -- 4th

I think that's four platforms at the same time
Is it possible to completely replace modeller by q4? That would be better.
Modelling in core..... But surfacing, uv texturing, weight painting in modeller. Sending to layout. Hmmm.....:grumpy:
I actually requested to have polygon modeller inside 3dcoat because everything is there for asset creation except polymod. Retopo is close to being polymodelling:D. Then I can just focus asset creation in 3dc and send to any app. But that's up to Andrew.

you forgot Mac, Linux and 64bit .... ;D
(or is there an upcoming Linux? can't remember...)

I'll be happy with bug fixes. 9.6 is great, but stability is defo an issue that needs addressing. I've had no problems with layout, but modeller crashes at the oddest times. It crashed on me once just switching layers .....arrrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

haha right. so 6 platform to maintain at the same time.:2guns:
but linux is minor platform. less than 10% of pc use linux I think.
but I think linux plus linux core plus linux 3dc would be a great tool.
