View Full Version : How to make low-res text?

Hey there,

I've been trying several options, but can't find a good tool for doing this...
For a low-poly building-model I need a 3d text as a logo. Problem is that the logo uses as much polys as the complete model!

The normal text tools don't supply any tools for changing the text resolution, so the best option now is changing this manually.
Is there perhaps a better option for fixing this?

Thanks in advance!

The "Curve Divisions" setting in the Layout Options ( "o" ) will change how the font is converted to polygons.

Cheers,
Mike

is the text just standing out from the wall of the building? Maybe have a look at dpont's relief map node and see if you can get the effect with textures only.

I can't use any normal maps or comparative solutions, only poly's and colour textures...

The coarseness of curves works, thanks for the tip!
Although differences are not very big, it shaves some very important detail.

Isn't there a interactive text tool with the option to change the resolution on the fly...?
