Now... look at the date... it says: Wed, Sep 23, 2009 - 02:41 PM

Ok...

Now, one of the comments I was asstonished about was this:

"Why is this significant?

No one has ever shown such a complex demonstration of true interactive GI using a GPU or CPU implementation."

Uhm? When was FPrime released? When was Rendition (http://www.holomatix.com/products/rendition/rendition-ipr/) released?

I can totaly understand that this is news for Brazil and that it may also use GFX-hardware to do the interactive rendering, but the result and the way you work, doesn't look different or faster than what FPrime or Rendition for Mental ray produce, and we all know that FPrime was the first tool to offer this type of workflow (not counting inhouse developments that never reaches the masses).

Shhhhh! Fprime is our beloved secret.

Shhhhh! Fprime is our beloved secret.

Did you actually bother to watch the video?

You clearly see that it is an interactive renderer, itterating just like FPrime does...

EDIT: Next time you edit your post, please keep the original stuff in there... :)

It does amaze me how long it's taken for everyone else to offer IPR in their products, we had it .... actually, when did we have it? It's been that long I can't remember!

Gotta love Worley Labs!

You're too concerned of why I think it's an adverticle, if they are aware or not of Fprime or any other technology isn't really important because they aren't going to accept it.

Nah, I have the right to change my mind.

I remember a Maya user friend saying something similar when LW nodes appeared.

Interactive rendering is not that new. This has been around for quite a long time as well:

I just couldnīt get why the younger guy to the left reminded me of a classic character that always sit in front of the stage on any jazz club. The character that usually is the most critical A-hole you can find on this planet. The guy who knows he canīt play a single note without being disqualified by any musical group around. The guy that compensate his lack of musicality by a very negative attitude to any musician that creates music with love and care.

Now I get it... itīs the famous scratching of this guys roughly designed beard and the smile that doesnīt include anything of value at all...

Hmmm... OT or what? :hey:

Compare LW nodes to 3dsmax nodes (Node Joe). LW is far more inclusive & comprehensive.

http://www.nodejoe.com/features_en.php

I have no doubt that Autodesk apologists will claim LW nodal is a mere plagiarized copy of the original 3dsMax nodes. And that, perhaps, Newtek does not properly credit the wonderful 3dsmax (costly, way late & weak) plugin coders.

No, you replied with a blunt and uninformed answer, hence my reply.

EDIT:

Your original reply:

"Dear Cageman,

Titus has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled - People living under a rock? - in the General Discussion forum of NewTek Discussions.

This thread is located at:

Here is the message that has just been posted:

Do you think Fprime is realtime? I don't.

Nah, I have the right to change my mind.

Of course...

And because I didn't want to appear like a mere troll, I edited my comment. And I still think the link is an adverticle.

Its kind of like the Core reveal except they show something that was actually working when they demoed it :)

I also think it was an advertisement.

Nodal in LW was a standalone product before Newtek aquired it...so hard to say
what inspired antii and which came first :)

My comment about the non activated but bearded guy to the left in the picture was just a joke... it was more like a very personal notification about the similarity between another inactive character that always pops up in front of jazz club stages when the heat is on.

If someone thought it was seriously I apologize for the inconvenience it could have caused that person.

all will be revealed once Core ships..everything else is just work in progress and so should be judged as such.

my hopes for core 1.0 are a very capable poly modeler,
best of breed retopology tools better than max 2010, polyboost, topogun, 3dcoat and modo.
a timeline and capable of animation of modeling and at least basic animations.
a renderer and capable of at least basic gi tuntable clay renderers.

3 months or there abouts to go.

But honestly I also think that newtek/worley failed a bit in publicizing lightwave with fprime. And I'm not a Newtek basher or anything, if you see my posts I've never or almost never ;) criticized newtek about their policies, but recently I got two new work mates that use 3dsmax. And they are quite good and quite informed and when I showed them fprime they were "Wow!" that's really good, but vray has that too now"...And some people I know that have even changed to XSI say that the best workflow for lighting, texturing etc, in a team production, was LW+FPrime. So I guess it was really bad advertising of both companies. Maybe newtek should change this in the future. I hope so.

they're a small company and worley labs is even smaller...to put them up next to the marketing budget of softimage or autodesk [at the time they were separate] is asking alot and remember most studios are locked into 3dmax or maya...they don't even look outside that world...

it's more a case of most artists are simply actively ignorant of other apps and or too lazy to keep up with what the latest tech is..8/

I donīt know if silence is the best way to support improvement of a software! Thatīs more like cutting the fork you sit on...

I guess thereīs a good purpose baked in this action but in my opinion itīs better being straight with constructice critisism about positive and negative features that are built in any software you work with...

I believe that many users think in different ways and that silence and censored thoughts to set the limits for what can be said or not is optional... but honestly, who will benefit from an agenda like that?

jaxtone if you search my threads I've always asked for improvements, and I've criticized lightwave where I think it is wrong. When I say I'm not a basher means that I'm not as 'rude' as some other users.

I thought the significance of this was that the GPU was doing the work. Where as Fprime and all other IPR's use the CPU.

Worley beat them to the punch by more than 4 years, wasn't the 1.01 patch released somewhere around march 2004?
