Man, this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3624316808&category=182) p*sses me off!

Some guy selling 10,000+ worth of 3D software on eBay for 50! - It amazes me that pirates have the balls to do this and even worse that there's suckers/w*nkers (delete as applicable) ready to pay for it... Grrr...

'Course, I'm trying to sell a legit copy of LightWave at the moment and I can't get a reasonable price 'cause I'm competing with bloody pirates *sigh*

OK, I'm done ranting but do me a favour people - if you see people selling what looks like pirate copies of LightWave on eBay or wherever please report 'em to eBay or NewTek (as I've just done) we've all made a pretty big investment in this software and idiots like this are knocking $$$ off the value of it...

Last week, the same guy sold a wacom pen+photoshop+illustrator+indesign+premiere+pagema ker+wordperfect office for 62 pound.

I just e-mailed that link to Discreet.

Thanks Matt - I pointed out to eBay that Discreet doesn't allow license transfers and that the seller failed to mention any hardware keys included in this bundle...

I used to bust people all the time on ebay for selling CD-R's with Lightwave on it. I loved it when their auctions got pulled.

I hope newtek payed you for your time. :)

When I was looking for lightwave to buy
I checked ebay, half of the items where "invalid"
maybe it was from your handywork.
I was quit scared when I bought one off ebay.
It was the real thing though. :)

I bought the real thing off eBay too! It came from NewTek on a CD-R.

Whew! Glad I got my copy!

Eh, did you say ...from NewTek on a CDR?

I didn't think financial problems had hit NewTek that strongly that they now have a CD stomping team to send out copies of LightWave! :)

I suspect that if someone sold you the software on a CDR, then its likely they didn't want to give away the original disk (for who-knows what reason - that's pretty pointless if they don't have the dongle anyway)

Kevman,

Newtek has said before they do sometimes put out CD-R's with Lightwave on it. It is so they can sometimes send it out more promptly before they can have more actual cd's made.

It's not the software thats important, as everyone can use it in demo mode, it's the dongle.

That auction ended without eBay pulling it - he sold his warez for 114 - NewTek - shouldn't you have a quiet word with eBay about this??

Aegis, did you send Newtek an e-mail originally? I got an ackowledgement from Discreet. Guess piracy just isn't as important to them as we might think. Hell, I think piracy is part of Discreet's marketing plan. :)

I didn't email NewTek but I DID inform eBay five days before the auction ended - I never got a response from them and they allowed the auction to finish.

Piracy is inevitable however what really burns me up is people profiteering from it - any idiot can download warez of the net and burn it on to a CD and now it seems they can make a nice living selling them on eBay too...

He, I think so too!

Every person (but 1) I know that use Max has it illegaly.
I think that indeed piracy is part of their Marketing plan.;)

let's hope the s/w comes with all the serials, no dongles and hasn't been cracked properly!

then the fool will have paid 100 sheets for software he can't run!

Maybe we should all e-mail e-bay. They may ignore one email but will they ignore all of us?

I contacted eBay through customer support (report questionable items).

Edit: I deleted another email address as it was only for law enforcement agencies

the second auction has gone, hopefully it was pulled!

Looks like it was pulled because it is now an Invalid Item on eBay.
