Speed Modeling Challenge #55 - Out Of the Comics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

************************************************** *******
Rules:
1: Every week there will be a subject for you to model along with a time limit. You should spend no longer than the allocated time, then post a render of your model. As in most challenges like this, your honesty on modelling times is essential.
How you interpret the brief is up to you as long as the final model conforms to what is asked for.

2: Post a render of your model (min 800x600 pixels) in this thread with a wireframe.

3: LightWave should be used for modelling. 3rd party Plug ins are allowed.

4: You can enter as many times as you like, posting each in this thread. If you run over the time, the model can still be posted but won't be subject to the judging.

5: Time spent on texturing, setting up a scene for a render and rendering is not included in the allocated period.

**Please mention whether or not you would be happy to share the model.**

Richard, you get 90 minutes, to keep the competition higher for the others :)

Btw, some people here have won the challenge already, but didn't put the winner challenge image on their posts yet like Richard. Would be cool to see this.

Arf - Linda Carter as Wonder Woman-that changed everything for me as a young lad.

Rorschach from Watchmen.
Technically a Graphic Novel but I reckon it still counts.

40 minutes modelling.

Thats brilliant Iain.
It was published at some point as singles as well as the whole graphic novel, so you are golden :D

Well there are the best part of two days remaining.
My eyesight is failing me a bit this week, so it is looking unlikely that I will get any thing done unless the world suddenly snaps back into focus.

I stopped this at 65 minutes because it was getting very late here...almost 2 am in the morning :hey:

seen this as a Max tutorial ages ago , I don't know if it would fit the subject but anyway not exactly hard ,25 Minutes and 1 bottle feed later "didn't really look into the poly count to much " technically ive still got time left , i might change the arms and legs and do them like his hands ,maybe even texture .

Somebody said Wonder Woman's invisible plane would be a quick and easy model.

Well I'm skilled enough to make modeling it go over the allotted time limit by 5 minutes.:D

I won't put you through the posting of a picture of the sky and calling it a render.;)

Nice work guys..must be a slow week around the world :D

Here's a couple render tests...just for fun.

I might be talking rubbish but a challenge with a longer time limit than 60 minutes seems to always get fewer results.

Maybe people are put off as they think they have to find 2 hours out of their schedule. Who knows.

Kuzey, is that an original character?

i have noticed that as well and think your point about finding more time might be accurate

You may well be right; seems to figure that way at least. Pretty un-stoked I've not had the time to get something done for this round - there's still this evening though.... we'll see what happens.

Grand work there Kuzey!

If it helps the TMNT were a comic originally and with a much darker tone than the cartoon version.

It is, but not mine. She is a character from a comic strip from the 30's...I think :D

It's a funny thing about the time limit..must be something to it.

I was thinking it might have been a good idea to extend the challanges to two weeks. I would have loved to have a crack at the 52nd challange :hey:

Nadgers. ~8-|

I was attempting Wonder Woman's boots (to keep with the earlier path of the thread), but got called off to cook. Not really worth showing a malformed cylinder. Meh.

Round #57 will be up shortly. :: edit :: http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102276
