How can I create two morph maps for the same object. the maps will be applied to different geometry on different layers. Thus far the second map shares the first map's base, which is why it does not work in layout.

each layered object will have its own morphs and its own morph mixer to control them.

So the fact that the second object does not have a base has nothing to do the problem?

Only the first morph shows up in layout; what else could be the problem?

The 'base' is the object without any deformations. The base is always there but it only shows up as 'base' if you have a morph applied.

Do you have a morph on both layers?

yes I do.... I'm recreating the morphs it must be something I did wrong.

OK question: should I select the polygons before I make the morphs?

I cant figure out why the object in layer2 morphs do not show up in layout see attach image.

on the left is 8 morphs in modeler and right is layout=2- eight in one only two in the other- go figure

First of all, you should first set a name for a morph (create a new morph) and after that make changes. Second - Modeler shows you all morphs for object. In your case, if you add Morphmixer to layer1, you will see rest 6 morphs, I think.
