DISTRICT 9 smokin'
Well, where to begin I donít normally start a thread, but I just had to share my thoughts on this superb 1st outer. I think that some large name auteurs jawís will drop when they eval the richness of this film. Without giving the game away in the story line, the Docu weave relents just as it is getting bother-some to let some payoff pieces do their stuff, and mostly pull the right levers, then is reintroduced sparingly later.
But for us the richness is elsewhere, in the Plates for they have great believability with superb comping & graining. Outside CGI creature meshes are always hard, but look what has been achieved here in Light maths solutions, its HDRI just admirable.
It could be a Contender for the next benchmark. If anybody gets a url link( this side of cinefx magagine review) please drop us a heads-up.
For a debut it is staggering good entertainment. Donít you think?
www.d-9.com is the trailer as a in.

Watched it the other day.

Thought it was OK but not that great.

Really didn't like how un-likable the main character was (he was a bit of a tosser) and the way the entire human race was depicted as being pretty much 100% made up of bastards.

The effects were really good though.

He totally made me think of Michael Scott from "The Office", except even more of a douche.

I don't think you were paying attention, because that was kind of the whole point of the story.

So, who're you supposed to root for?

So, who're you supposed to root for?
I don't think it's that simple.

It's more about the central characters journey from one side of the conflict to the other, so there's no real 'us vs. them' story arc. t's about 'us' becoming 'them'.

Great FX work. This is how movies should be done, where you don't really notice that the creatures are gfx.

Thanks All,
To Kuzev, I’ve been busy sailin’ in the eastern Med,
and I didn’t check threads. So it’s been a staggered release,
with the U.S. release obviously first.
Boy, I loved reading the posts on that other thread, the
autopsy by people who obviously have got a Masters in
Hitchcock etc. la, la, I mean get over yourselves, hell, it’s
a first outer and it’s a rush, my ladyfriend (sober) couldn’t
stop giggling with me at this romp, roll on the next bit.
Listen, I’ve stayed with friends in the Highlands area of Jo’burg,
and I swear I saw those Prawny Pets in the huge Portuguese fish
market down there.
And to Borkus, yep, yep, I saw that smokin’ chick…..Halfway
through the action, dressed in a pink balcony Bra she, she had a
lovely marked shell and such curvy tentacles and when she sashayed
from the hut to….OMGOD ---I’am on the turn!!!

Thank you all for reposting on my late thread.HAH! …power to the RED.
