A friend and client asked me to check this out (it is not really pretty):

But it is a changing 3D fractal with volume (which would render nice in Stereo3D). I can't think of a viable way to produce something like that in LW.. Anyone here that has a clue or did something like it before?

Ive seen 3d fractal generators as far back as the Amiga. :)

It could be done. You might find a 3rd party app that could export obj files.

Many, many years ago a friend made a 3D mandelbrot traveling using POV-Ray.

Try this plugin:
http://www.auroragrafx.com/Software/Attr/index.shtml
It doesn't do Mandelbrot, but it does great volumetric fractals(animated too).

dang Warren, thanks so much!

The Aurora one needs HV's etc I think which may be unhandy/slow, but I will test it out and it allows combining with other 3D. and it put me on track of Chaoscope.. sure it ain't LW but it can be crudely animated, and stereo rendered.. and the solutions are stunning..

Thanks a dozen!

I wish Aurora would do a 64bit conversion until his next big update, really miss this plugin and others

HV volumetrics are slow, HV in surface mode is pretty fast.

Sprites aren't too bad either!
