Does anyone know of a way to get Lightwave 9.6 to run off of a thumb drive as a portable version that could be used on any computer (in conjunction with the dongle of course)?

seems like it would be really easy as long as the tumbdrive mounts as the same drive letter on all systems. just use custom config paths to keep the configs with the app.

Note that you'll need admin rights to run the full version because of the need for dongle drivers. That's long been the limiting factor for LW's portability.

Just copy your LightWave directory on your thumb drive and you're almost done - create a "config" directory and use shortcuts with a -c option pointing to it

the trickiest part is about creating the shortcuts so your config files can be accessed from the drive (cause the drive letter is subject to change, depending on the machine you're plugin it in) - Besides this, you'll have to copy the sentinel install executable so you can install the dongle drivers - which requires admin privileges
