View Full Version : Merging UV-Maps

Hi,

I copied a mesh from one model into another one. They both share the same textures. But their uv-maps are called differently. So LW creates 2 materials for them. I want to merge them. But how can I merge both uv-maps into one?
This is important because it is for a game model and thus should use as less materials as possible.

Thanks in advance,
Regards.

there are probably simpler solutions.

But here is what i would do:
http://www.dstorm.co.jp/english/plugin/vmap.htm#UVEdit download UVedit.

Go the object you want to copy texture and to the Map. Select all polys and run CopyUV.
Change of UV map and select the object again and run PasteUV.

Hope it cracks it.

Cheers

Thanks probiner for the idea and the link.

Unfortunately this plugin does not work with my 64-bit version of Lightwave.

Simple way to merge 2 uv maps is to open the Vertex map panel (F8), select one uv map, right-click and select copy vertex map. When it asks you for the new name, give it the same name as the second uv map.

This will merge the 2 uv maps into one and you can delete the first uv map if it's not needed anymore.
