the ipone is the biggest thing for useless stuff. This year at siggraph almost every paper presented had an iphone application.

LOL the moment i saw the topic title, one word came to mind "cresshead".

The cool thing is that you do it with your fingers. I don't know the response spedd of iphone but looks quite cool to play with.

Cheers

Hmm, I thought sculpture sketching on the go might be cool. But really I take time away from my main workstation to meditate on other things not work related. I feel the same way about gaming on the go, kinda silly and unhealthy.

useless is right, why even try on a 300mhz phone with no memory or storage? Plus, 3D kills the friggin battery on the iPhone. Well, everything kills the battery ont he iPhone.

yeah the iphone specs are less than ideal, i think ram on the iphone is 64mb or 128ram for the new 3g iphone

but i'd love to see a 3d app on the nintendo DSi!
the dsi has a decent amout of ram, can store on interneal or card or even export to SDcard
and can handle 3d quite well of late with 3d games appearing like 'moon' which runs at 60fps.
and you have a pen input not a fat finger...plus 2 screens!

i already have a music synth [the korg ds20]
and flipnote which is a 2d animation app with sound recording etc.

so i'm hopefull a 3d app for the DSi is not far away!

That thing has a 667mhz CPU and it runs Linux. Could maybe offer some easy 3D modeling on toilet or something ?

nice n all but doesn't have the 'numbers' to support a fringe app like a lightwave DS

though if it's linux you may get blender 2.5 on it no problem.

nintendo DS and iPhone have a huge userbase..the nintendo has a better chance of a 'usable app' than an iphone as their apps on the iPhone tend to be gimmicky things rather than actual apps you can 'do stuff with'.

well i put that together before i got the DSi which has SDram cards as well as the game card slots.

just think you could RENDER on it! and store the frames on the SDcard as well as the objects and scenes!

would be awesome fun!:D

Isn't the DSi processor just 133mhz ? Screen is only 256x192.

Anyways, I'm sure that many of us will have some kinda simplistic 3d applications in our pockets in near future.

as for 3d capability..well there are plenty of good framerate 3d games and moon runs at a whopping 60fps which is amazing when you think about it.

it's def doable for a DSi and a sculpting app would be nice as so would a 3d modeling /animation app...

Please, please give us a way cool IMAX certified version of the iphone.
Rename our app to mylightwave or mycore.
