View Full Version : Vertical Grid

I'm often making 3D models that have to match live footage, and for the instances when a 3D tracker doesn't work as well as I'd like, I have to do it by hand.

But there is no vertical grid that stays fixed within space that I could use as a guide for tracking against the footage. The horizontal/floor grid has limited use in this instance.

The overlays on the camera display are no use, as they move relative to the camera, whereas I want something that is fixed to the world.

Is there a plugin, or technique, I can use to help me?

Couldn't you just make a plane, subdivide it a few time (Shift D) and set the display mode for the object to wireframe only (in the scene editor)?

Mr. Rid shared an in-lightwave tracking method technique in the forums that'd be worth looking for.

I could do that, but I was hoping there'd be an in-software way that didn't require an extra model to potentially get in the way of everything.

I will search for the thread you mention.

Mr Rid's methodology for motion tracking is brilliant, and completely solves my problem. Hurrah!

Not sure yet how to handle bank rotation, but I have a theory that might work.
