So I've been experimenting with the DP Kit's Part Move, trying to get a multi-part model to follow a particle emitter like so:

Here's the node tree:

And here's the model

It works quite well and is much faster than FXLinker, but a problem arises when several different parts move to the position of a single particle:

Apparently when the index number references a particle that hasn't been born yet, things get weird.

So I ask all y'all: is there a way to have a part be out of sight when it isn't born?

Nevermind. I hardly used these tools. I shouldn't confuse. :)

I don't think the index exists when it hasn't been born.

Just a thought:

How about if you make them all born a once (precalc frames I think) and then base their visibility upon the frame and index.

Scratch that, guys. DPont has been kind enough to fix up the x32 Particle Info and everything works flawlessly :D

I've been able to make a setup that blends the part positions between 2 emitters using a controller null:

And the node setup:

Beautiful simulation!

Thank you both of you! http://erikalstad.com/backup/anims.php_files/smile.gif

Are you saying that the grid of cubes starts as it looks in modeler and then it blends into the position of a particle swarm?

Lookin great! I wouldn't have guessed it's an OGL preview.

Also bryphi's nodal tutorials have been a great help.

Where can I find those tutorials?

I know there is a constraint on BLEND (null) but I see no modifiers on motion or individual channels, how did you set that up?

Has anyone successfully rotated each individual piece.
I get a one time totate and huge positon offset when I plug the Particle info rotation into the Part Move rotate.

Where does the "Particle Info Node" come from in the Add nodes tab, I don't see it in the DP Kit nodes?

I don't have one with the "index" node side?

Really nice work!

I did get the latest download and it shows up when I tried the sample scene from this post. If I try to use it in anohter scene. (save/laod nodes) it doesn't load the correct node with the index plug. Not sure why? Can anyone tell me what the node name is called? The name was changed from the sample scene.
