Does anyone know of any in-depth bevelling tutorials? I'm so used to organic modelling in sub-patch mode, I've forgotten how to get good straight edges.
A colleague of mine wants to model a clock for him with heaps of bevelled edges. How would I start this off.

I suggest: First you get a big cup of coffee. next: you press the Multiply tab in modeler and check out all the belvel tools. They are really easy to use. I don't think you need a tutorial to find out how a bevel tool works? Just play with them for a while.

Cheers for your help. Cup of coffee is probably the most important thing. Just having probs with the corners but thanx for the tutorial link,

If you are trying to still use sub-patch for the objects some of my videos might help. They are all hard surface subd related... and free...

Do you mean that you're having trouble rounding the edges?

I took it that he meant that the points are crossing since that is so common with the bevel tool. Time to get familiar with the drag tool.

I think Trueart has an AdjustSharpness plugin which allows you to click on a sub-patched objects edge and adjust how sharp you want it to be. I've used this plugin very much with some great results! There's also TB's Edge Bevel Shader. You can leave your sharp edges, use this shader, and it'll smooth out sharp edges during rendering. This is also one of my favorites.
