Hi guys.
That's been a while since I posted here :)
Been quite busy, but I'm still using LW as my main 3d package, so It would be good to show some work from time to time.

This one was done for the polish cg forum contest. I tried to achieve illustrative look.
The story behind it, is cheesy like B class SF movie :
In the desert laboratory while inventing new bioweapon something goes terribly wrong and incident happend. Squad of special forces soldiers is send in to rescue surviving scientists and to retrive research data. Because the biomass is spreading in such a high speed, this plan fails and evacuation is not an option anymore - time for backup plan - an Atom bomb drop to clean up the mess.

You have to be kidding...
Please post more of your work, this is amazing stuff.
Could you please show the raw render and wireframes? to see how much post work it has.
thanks

Amazing stuff ! I love everything about it : composition, colors, details, mood, ... you should consider posting this to NT's gallery, along with everything you make if you haven't done so

Again - Amazing stuff

WOW I always love your work! The only crit I have is that the tower looks quite small relative to the scale of the characters posed on it, but otherwise it's all beautiful!

Looks great, my only comment would be the scale of the characters in relation to the building.

Just watched your demo reel. Very nice.

I love how you create little mini environments for your models, it really makes it a lot more interesting that just a model. I think you've inspired me to take this course with my own work. Thanks man!

this is just fantastic work. it seems a step beyond the typical CG render somewhere into the painterly artistic aesthetic. would love to see more of your work!

Thanks guys,

Characters can look quite big but it is not mistake - It's because of the camera angle I used for render - it is extreemly disstorted. That way the characters looks bigger than they acctually are. Also the building is quite tall but not so much space in it, that also create this impression.

I'm happy that you liked it. Yes is done in Lightwave and actually not much post was done to it (except composition of the passes, color correctionand chromatic aberration).
I render out few different passes - beauty, depth,AO, also different parts of the picture were rendered separate - creature/HV smoke/sky). That way I got more control in the post tweaking the pic.

I will try to prepare some quick "making of" soon. I got enough screenshots from WIP but not enough time to put it together :)

PS. Thenks Andyjaggy. Glad you liked it.
My demo reel can be found here http://www.vimeo.com/3593613 .
Mostly Lightwave 3D (modeling,texturing,lighting,rendering) :)

GORGEOUS! As a traditional illustrator (LW is my second love) I wouldn’t believe this wasn’t a painting. Just fantastic. The scale of the people to the building really adds to the ”nowhere to go but down” tension in the composition and the story. This would be a great cover for a book or game.
