I'm guessing "texture baking" can be done in Lightwave.

Is it called something else in Lightwave, because I can't find it in the manual or in "Inside Lightwave."

Can anyone tell me how texture baking is done, or point me to the place where I can find out in either of the books I mentioned above?

It is inside Inside Lightwave in the Special Lighting chapter... Used in the simple room with radiosity.. It bakes the radiosity on the objects of the room... chapter 9, p. 416 Baking radiosity...

And check on Surface baker, as above

Check out this page. Lukasz who made the ACS4 plug-in did this great animation called REF. He did the setting by baking in the diffusion from the radiosity solution. The results are amazing. Check it out here:
