The 20th of July has a few dates of significance for NASA. The first US Mars lander touched down this day in 1976. I was intended to land on the US bicentennial July 4th, but concerns about the landing site delay the touchdown. No, it wasn't the first, the USSR sent some a few years before, but they all failed just before or just after landing.

not "vikings" as in people of norse origin with single sail boat and horned hats!

Bummer, a serious thread.

I was all pumped with my comments about how meek the raping and pilaging was that the Viking returned to earth as soon as possible,
never to return again...

Oh well. :D

I was actually old enough to enjoy this one. The moon landing was just another boring news show when it happened.

I particularly remember when the vikings found Dejah Thoris...
