Have you tried using the Edit Font List Panel?

Ah! Got it!

Yes you can enter Japanese text.

Firstly make sure that your font is loaded through Modeler/ Options/ Edit Font List

Now that your font is loaded, bring up the Numeric Panel (press M). Now, go to the text tool and decide where you want your Japanese writing. ****Click inside the the TEXT field in the numeric panel, and write in Japanese there**** this is very important, it won't work otherwise. Write your Japanese inside the box labeled text and then select Apply.

Tadaaaaaa!

There is like a whole bunch of different system fonts that you can use for these things, different languages/characters...

Also interesting is to use Dingbats/symbol fonts with LW for quick detail... I've been playing with stuff from 1001fonts.com and there are some nice modelling effects you can achieve with some of these fonts.

If you wanted to get really creative you could create your own fonts, to quickly generate templates for custom-built shapes.

I just got a CD in a bargain bin at circut city that has 4000 fonts on it for $5. I haven't had a chance to load them up yet and try them out but you could look for something like that....

yeah I have a massive collection of font, not all alpha-numerical, some experimental. Also some techno Japanese style fonts. Plus I have a copy of Fontographer so I can experiment with making my own. I'm sure there must some good applications for this idea.

Hey, thanks for the advice but I still cant get it to work. I am entering text using the MS XP system (not the IME pad) and I have added fonts that work with WordPad, but to no avail as all i get is ???'s.

How about typing it in illustrator and then outline the font and import eps file in modeler?

Rie,

Not all Japanese fonts will load. I've got errors trying to load some of them. An example of one that works, and that you probably have is @MS 明朝 (In case the forum doesn't support Japanese characters, they were the kanji for bright and morning).

Also, to type in Japanese, you must have the numeric panel open and type your text into that. If you don't use the numeric panel nothing will come up.
