I'm using the mac version of 9.6 and was wondering if snow leapard was going to be compatible or would the 64bit version be the better fit for the new OS?

it looks like also it will be an add on to Leopard so you don't have to format the drive and lose all the license keys having to reregister them.

You don't ever "have" to format the drive. I've upgraded from Jaguar though Panther, Tiger and Leopard and I didn't format the drive once. I generally use archive and install.

I thought that the system didn't run as fast if you don't format and install a clean install?

So did I. Until last week, when I did "archive & install"...

Works great... no installation hassle... took me about 40 minutes with updates from the net. Everything except printers and scheduled start-up remains intact. Speed - apps starts faster, so I guess it is pretty much as clean install.

Seems like this action will become a regular-6-months-task for me.
