Hey--

I've followed the tute Mr. Vaughan has posted for thick grass and I have to say I'm not getting at all close to the same results.

1) My render times are seriously longer (12 seconds vs 1.9)
2) all my grass is gathered to a single point at the tops

I've verified all my settings match his, but I'm way off. My PC is a quad core with 4GB ram on XP Pro and I'm using LW 9.6. Is this the difference between beta and production versions?

Plus consider that fiberfx has changed alot since that video for better and for worse depending upon what youre doing.

I do believe Proton uses a Boxx machine, no idea what spec' though.

Also, I think he often has AA turned off to speed up render tests.

That was my impression. So what did we gain from the longer render times?

I did, too, unfortunately. Tried to match his settings as closely as possible.

Oh, and doesn't GI support FFX yet? All my renders were dark when I tried it.

I think the advantage of longer render tiimes is so you can charge your clients more. :)
