    Excel data to LW?

    Hi,

I need to get XYZ data for a point cloud into Lightwave that's been provided in an Excel file. Is there any format that I can save/export to and/or plugin that might be able to import this data as points into LW? Any info would be appreciated. I'm not looking forward to the possibility of inputing 100's of points individually.

    Thanks,
    Devin

I do not know about any direct way of importing excel files, but if you export it from excel to CSV (comma separated) or any plain text format it should be fairly easy to create a lscript that reads that and creates points.

If you need help I can try to write something for you

Here it is. I assumed that you have XYZ data in columns 1,2 and 3 respectively. Save it as CSV in excel and this script should do it.

Thanks Art for the response and taking out the time to write the script. Above and beyond! Looks like my problem is solved. It's nice knowing that I won't be plugging in the numbers for all those points!

    Thanks again,

No problem, I'm glad I could save you some time and tedious data entry
