My testament to Edge Modeling...and more.
I will post renders here that I did in Lightwave 9 while using the beta.
This first is a series of Pictures from my modeling tests as soon as edge modeling become available.
The skull was drawn from a profile picture with edges and then extend was used to pull the geometry out and sculpt it to shape. Similar to smooth shift but I was creating 3d form from 2d lines. This process is similar to the way many hexagon nurb tutorials work. It was a fast session. About 4 hours from scratch to final renders. The texture is the side view picture I found on the internet but it is using the oren Nayer shader mixed with Phong spec shader.
Rendered with BG radiosity Low AA.
I will post more test in this thread soon. I have some Omega Shader SSS tests with a Buddha model that is casting caustic refraction on the floor behind it.

Beautiful Bird-skulls. Can you show us some wires.
I'm intrigued by your modeling method here. Any links to the tutorials you mention?"We've gone on holiday by mistake"

Excellent modeling! I'll have to give that technique a try.

Really cool. Thanks. Can we see a wire frame?

Oh, hey guys.
I got busy on another project at home seperate from Eden.
Most of my time has been spent finishing that up.
Here is a wireframe of the bird's top skull. Do you want the nurbed wires or would you like to see the cage before nurbing.
The tutorial I was referring to is at the nurb modeling website Subdiviison modeling dot com.
There is a tutorial there done in Hexagon on how to create a humanoid. I followed that tutorial but tried to use Lw9 edge modling instead. It worked well and I transferred that concept to creating the bird skull in 9.
Since I've been busy I'll show you the logo I was working on.
The zip file contains the logo. I designed both the 2d logo and 3d animation of it. The company was originally the same company I did the Mars project with - www.themarsunderground.com - but have changed thier name due to a split between management. So the new company is called Radius productions.
I rendered it in Lw9 but used trapcode starglow for the highlights.
It was a simple radiosity scene completely lit by GI with a simple reflection node setup on the ring with very slight refl blurring. The text is also refl blurred as well. Nothing too complicated. Simple and discreet like all my designs are. . I did the chior sounds with a program I use for music production called Reason. I use it with Protools 7 sometimes.
When I finish the current project I'll post some of the SSS Buddha shots I have that are not just tests. I've been tweaking the caustic so its more real. Takes time though.
Here is a test of the Buddha at low quality. I was tweaking the mm penetration setting to get the right scatter effect. I pluged the node into the refraction shading so I could get the caustic on the ground behind it. Please don't be too harsh about crit on the Buddha its a test only with no GI.

Thanks for the posts- I'll be sure to check out those modeling tutorials too!

Wow, awesome work! Just out off curiosity, what's that XP theme you're using?

OK, Sorry bout the wait. Still more modification to come.
Here is the Buddha with proper SSS settings rendered with GI.
Now with a nicer render here for the meantime I can continue tweaking it
Sorry, I was embarassed by leaving only the test render to see
Oh btw the operating systemis called Stealth OS. Its a nice grey tone so my eyes don't go blind from staring at bright whites and greys all day.-----------------
