    YouTube Live Video Issue

We've been streaming to YouTube Live for years without issue. However, we recently installed AE on our Mini and have noticed that the top and bottom of the video seem to flicker on YouTube. The issue isn't present on DDR replays, only live cams. I've linked a video below to better explain this issue.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

What video formats are you cameras running in and what video format is the session? Looks like a interlace to progressive conversion issue to me.

I believe the cameras are running at 1920 x 1080/59.94i and the session is 720p/60. What I find interesting though is that the issue seems to be only when the cameras are live, not on the DDR recordings of the cameras.

Maybe I can present a related observation:

When I route 1080p live cam through M/E to output I often (randomly!) get some 1 or 2 pixel flickering line at the bottom of the output video. Quite similar to GThomas' example but less busy. When I route the camera directly to output this never occours. The interesting voodoo is that the flickering is not always in the scene. Let's say I have the camera routed through ME1 and same cam to ME2. When I switch back and forth between ME1 and ME2 again and again, sometimes I have this flicker-line and sometimes I don't - and no, I dont' do anything else but switch between ME1 and ME2. Around 20% probability.

My cure was to scale the MEs to 101% instead of 100%.

    RALF-

Thank you for this information. That's an interesting problem, and it makes me feel better knowing it might not just be me! I think I'll try to see if adjusting my camera SDI output changes anything.

We also see this sometimes when we use our XLH1, which are 1080i only.

Thanks for the info. I'll try to adjust the output on Friday, as I'm pretty sure the HM600 will let me change it to 720/60.

Just to update this, switching the cameras to output 720p/60 cleared up the issue. I'm not sure why AE seemed to introduce the interlace to progressive conversion issue, but changing the camera output cleared it right up.
