    Smile cwenter point orientation

I have LightWave v 2015 update 3 and for some reason my center point is off. for example if I have a body in parts to rotate the foot it rotates from the center 0/0 and not down by the foot, driving me crazy - I don't recall it ever doing that before and I've used LightWave for 17 years. Is there a preference somewhere that I might have hit that always rotates objects from the 0/0 point or is this history all in my imagination? In the images added the 0/0 is above the head. I think I just figured it out, if I separate the parts into layers in Modeler then I can move the pivot point in Layout and do what I need to do. Sorry but I think that's what i'm remembering...

    Real fast: "Pivot Point".

Was this created in Modeler originally? If so, maybe it was created off from the zero center. Also, if you are using separate layers in Modeler, each layer would have a center point based on it's relative position. Also, in Layout, check your selection for Parent in Place. This affects where an object rotates.

Not sure if I understood you correctly but it sounds like you have changed the action center in modeler,
look at the lower bar in modeler, and change the AC (action center) to AC:Mouse

Note you can change a Layer's pivot point away from 0/0/0 in Modeler, you don't have to do it in Layout.

BTW, this is one of the nice things I wish we'd jank from Blender: the 3D cursor --AS AN OPTION. Because, one of the things you can do with the 3D cursor is snap it to any point.

So not only can you T/R/S from any vertex, there's a VISUAL indication of what's happening, versus just an implicit operation. (That is, some LW tools/plugins allow you to choose an arbitrary rotation point, but there's no visual representation/reminder of what that is, which IMO is rubbish.)

i've heard a few people compare Blender to LW and it's amazing that we pay for LW and it seems Blender which is free has some perks that should be in LW.....
    Thanks for your post!!

I'm no Blender expert, but I think Blender has all sorts of features that might be nice, including Grease Pencil, onion skinning, and the built-in sequencer/compositor.

Now, whether those features are well-implemented and practical, it's hard to say w/o a lot more investment in time than I care to make.

    EDIT: Geeze Louise.... http://lesterbanks.com/2016/03/blend...-5d-animation/
