    Space Freighter WIP

Hi all, here's a space freighter I'm playing around with at the moment. Thought I'd post some renders of it. The textures are just cubic mapped for now. At some point I'm going to UV map everything. Not looking forward to that, lol. But the new unwrap tool should help a lot. Click image for larger version.

Very nice looking, but awfully big for a fighter if the deck window in front is the cockpit. Looks good though.

That cubic mapping looks surprisingly good, It will really step up a level if you go the hard yards with UV mapping. It's got a killer back end.

Nicely done. I like that your hull has some bulk to it, adding to the fact this IS a tough freighter. The Nurnies are well placed and not overly stuck on like random legos. Can't wait to see more!

Thanks, guys! Dj, I too am very surprised by the cubic mapping. Glad you like the back. Thanks, SquishyAni, for noticing the nurnie placement. Ever since Star Wars came out in 1977, I've been obsessed with nurnie and nurnie placement. It is truly an artform all its own. i'm at the point now where every time I look at a render of this ship I see a empty spot that needs something. This could technically go on for ever, lol.

Me too, I used to kitbash plastic models to cover large balsa and cardboard models I made.

The front right shot is awesome. Some good texturing/shading will make a killer model.
3d animation? Hah! Did you take a look through your window?there´s plenty of it...and pre-rendered!!

I love the back end/engines. Nice work!
I'm hearing ya on the nurnie placement. Its WAAAY harder than you first would think.
Try the gritnode for the texturing. It will add a lot to render times, but every time I have used it, it made my models look 100% better
