oops i pressed the wrong button
..and now I'm seeing this:

instead of this:

What should I do?

You need to click the circled drop-down, then select the desired view. I might also suggest that you READ THE MANUAL!

On right side of Perspective drop-down there is "Textured" in one screen-shot, in other there is "Wireframe".

Either that or it's the fact that the Box tool is creating subdivisions that is the problem. A bit more info would certainly help. If that's what is confusing you using the left/right cursor keys while your mouse pointer is over a viewport will decrease/increase the number of segments. You can also use the Numeric window (I advise keeping it open all the time) and change the segment number in there.
