Using Thumbnail Sketches

Cobalt

Lightwaver
Here are some thumbnail sketches I created to help me to explore options for a series of paintings I worked over the past year. The idea was not to spend too much time on any one thumbnail and work out major shapes and composition before working on the details of a painting.

These looks Fantastic Cobalt! thanks for sharing, I should be doing more thumbnails.

Thanks macb. I've only recently started doing thumbnails before starting illustration projects and it has been a great way to "warm-up" the creative juices before starting in earnest.

Oh dear! Amazing stuff! I must admit I always loved the conceptual phase over the actual, finalized art.

Nice drawings. I started drawing as 2D animator and later change to 3D. What I never missed it's to use thumbnails as a fast preview of what I'm going to do when modeling, animating, compositing, etc. They are very useful
