The "compatible" mpg files being produced by the TCXD450 are out of official H.262/MPEG2 specification. They are encoded at 100 Mbit/s using a profile flag of main (and a level of high). According to specs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.262/MPEG-2_Part_2) the main profile is only compatible up to 80 Mbit/s.

This failure to meet specs is causing us serious problems with smart rendering in Sony Vegas. All our files are having to be rendered twice before they reach final product status. We find this totally unacceptable.

There are two possible solutions:
1. Change the encoding profile flag from main to high to meet proper MPEG specs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.262/MPEG-2_Part_2), or
2. Lower the "compatible" bit rate to 80 Mbit/s to match the official main profile to fully meet MPEG specs.

Interestingly enough the "high" recording setting on the TCXD450 does produce a proper spec MPEG2 file (it will smart render fine in Sony Vegas) but sadly we cannot use it because TMPGEnc 5 (our final down render step) won't accept 4:2:2 files yet. We use TMPGEnc 5 because of it's powerful batch capabilities to produce every final format we need in one batch.

We filed a bug report, but also posting here for any useful input.
I see you can export a list of images used, but I don't see the same for objects. Would be nice if you could export a list of everything that is an external reference to a scene including used plugins. I'd like to make sure all assets get transferred. I realize you can "package" a scene but I'd rather have a list.

Any ideas?

Render any volumetric light with lens flare in anaglyph, and the light and volumetrics are rendered properly for stereo, but NOT the lens flare. I understand lens flare is a post-render image process, but stereo should take its position into consideration for stereo, based on the position of its light. Currently the flare is rendered in the exact same position for both L & R images. :(

I can fogbugz this if it isn't a known bug.

Secondly, does the 8000 have dedicated preview monitors for the 8 M/E's? Again, the tech-specs are kind of vague "Freely configurable for any combination of input sources, program, preview, M/E buses, clocks or images". This was a huge downside on the 850, since there were no monitors for the virtual inputs, the only way to see a VI source was to place it on the preview bus (which isn't always available). Hopefully there is a way to monitor the M/E buses on the 8000 without having to place them on preview.

thanks,
iVGA seems fine because it can send the Newtek logo to Tricaster. But when I go to Screen 2 it's just black. I'm using ProPresenter and I have a monitor hooked up physically as screen 2 and everything I display on ProPresenter shows up correctly. However iVGA is just sending a black screen to Tricaster.
The 2nd screen is at 1024x768 60 hz, what am I missing? Keying is off for now also.

This is just a heads up for those of you with multiple TriCaster products and good memories, or custom CS or shortcut key implementations. At some point in the not too distant future, all TCXD TriCaster versions will undergo some relatively minor shortcut key changes.

The advent of 4 DSK channels in 8000 make it unwieldy to use the same shortcuts as were long in use on prior models for Take/Auto DSK 1 and 2. In a future rev - which is not to say the very next one in some cases - you'll see these have been remapped as follows:

Auto DSK 1 a
Auto DSK 2 s
(Auto DSK 3) d
(Auto DSK 4) f

Take DSK 1 A
Take DSK 2 S
(Take DSK 3) D
(Take DSK 4) F
Muscle memory being what it is, we generally try to avoid this sort of thing, but this was our best recourse that preserves consistency across the models - important for those running multiple units.

(The documentation that pulls up with your QR code readers is already updated, which is a rare case of docs being ahead of reality. Hopefully, that won't confuse anyone.)

I've been trying to set up an arm that includes two hand controls; one for gross positioning of the whole hand, and another that leaves the finger goals behind so the finger tips can rest on other objects etc. In the attached scene, the red ball at the wrist serves as the former, the blue box the latter. This is the closest I've come to achieving my goal, but there are some problems. Namely:

When rotating the R_Hand Master null on Bank, the hand needs to rotate on the same axis as the forearm, and the forarm itself should twist.

I can't get the hand to stay oriented to the goal or world space without causing further breakage.

When moving the R_Hand Master null, the finger goals stray away from the hand, which I suppose is a symptom of problem number 2.

I feel like I'm close to getting this, but alas my brain has pulled up short. Anyone care to lend me a bit of theirs...? :)
