do you guys usually freeze your models before UV texturing them?

no you don't have to. If you find problems with the uv texturing open the maps window and try the other interpolation modes to see what happens...

Thanks, I will try that!

Also keep in mind that there are still issues with CC subd and UVs. Make sure you are using Subpatch if you're having issues too. (or at least see if it fixes any problems)

And no, I don't freeze my models to UV. You would lose the benefit of your subd model then. Unless you were planning on freezing it and optimizing it anyway.

It's not just LW. All the other major apps get UV distortion to a certain degree when put in subpatch mode. It can be minimized, but the best way to do that is to UV them as subpatch objects if you're intending on rendering them as subpatch objects.

This is one of the reasons why the ability to 3D paint in your rendering app is a good thing, as you can paint some or most of the distortion out, but UV subpatch distortion can be a real b1tch if you're using, say, Photoshop, to paste image maps over a UV map.
