Much the same as Vista Ultimate, Lightwave's content directory, or more correctly, the OS just opens the last directory opened rather than the Scene Folder if I click on open scene. Anyone have an idea.

Now I'll probably find the answer.

I'm using Windows 7 and it opens my Scenes folder every time. It always did so in Vista, too.
Are you sure you have a Content directory specified in the Paths tab in the options?
IIRC, if you have an invalid path, it will open your last location, or something random.

No problem.

That's why you should let LW create the content folders for you using the "Create Directories". For one, they'll be named right, but for another, you'll have all the folders you might need for all the other things it might need to save for a scene, such as a radiosity cache, surfaces, motions, and all that good stuff.

And it will all be spelled right too. ;)

I add a few of my own, too, such as I store my menu files in a Menus folder in my Content directory. I've been meaning to try putting plugins in a folder within Content, but I don't know if LW would be able to load them if they're not in the main Plugins folder in the installation directory.

I just have a content structure saved within my projects folder and whenever I start a new project I copy the folder, rename it and redirect Lightwave to that. I couldn't use a single content directory for everything I've ever worked on, it would be a nightmare to manage.

Oh no doubt. I have 7 content folders right now which each have their own specialized uses, all within one massive LW Content folder. I had more until I recently whittled it down into categories.
But that's where the Content Manager really helps out; when you have a scene you need packed up all nice and neat, containing everything, Content Manager does that nicely.

Biggest problem I have though is image maps, and having multiple copies of many pictures in several different contents. Eats up alot of disk space.

I slipped up on the spelling. I have all my content and documents on drives other than C: I can then re-image the system quickly and don't have to worry about a suddenly loss. I have quite a few lw content folders and wasn't even aware of that create folders button. When did that get there? :D

Images! I keep those all in one place and direct whatever needs directing, there.

Thanks.
