Put a world co-ordinate tex on a plane's transparency and parent it to camera.
make a morph shifting it into distance, and make it morph away every frame on repeat.
Then render on Photreal blur on 100% and lots of motion blur passes.
Easy to do and good for space stuff.. Playing with nodes gives swirly effects to the (pretend) volumetrics.
Ps.. My render is grainy because I banged it out on low settings, but its quite fast to render.
