View Full Version : first model (nude woman) -- Explicit
Hello, guys!
I am pretty new to 3D modelling, but I really enjoy it! This is my first complete model. I made it using LightWave 7.0 almost exclusively with subpatches. I started the head (eyes and nose) following a tutorial in the book Inside Lightwave 6, but I got confused, and continued it by my own (that's why the head -mouth and ears - look a little weird...).
Anyway, I thought I might post it here to see what you guys think (and maybe a few sugestions...)
Also, I am trying to apply bones to her, and they work pretty well, but I can't get the upper-arms and shoulders geometry to deform right. I've tried different positions and sizes for the bones, even created a few "anchor" ones, but I still don't get it right... Anyone can help? It would be great.
Well, thanks everyone!! See ya!!
Here are other images. Bye!

For your first model this is really quite good. I'm wrestling with the finer points of human figure modelling at the moment, but I'm using the Spline Cage tool to get the basic shape, and then converting to sub d's to refine it.
Are you using any reference pictures? Your grasp of the anatomy is good, although the lower legs seem about thick around the ankles.

Not bad.
A few things I noticed... The forearms are a little flat on the top and bottom. The bellies of the extensors and flexors of the arm are in that area and would generally round out the area more.
Not enough definition in the buttock area. She has not so much an *** rather she has legs that extend into her back. Round out the area a little and add a little more geometry in the area to give yourself enough to work with. Try adding a crease above the legs to show more definition.
She has a strange protrusion below her navel where there should be none. Rib cage also seems to go a bit low in the front. The area where her Xyphoid process is (below the sternum) should be up higher on her torso but still below the breasts.
As far as shoulder deformation goes. It's best to put her arms a bit higher for the rest pose. If you put them at about a 45 degree angle from the body, it will put you in the middle range of deformation. Then it's just a matter of tweaking the weight maps or adding some strategically placed holder bones to get the deformation you want. Make sure you're using a shoulder bone to raise the arm once the arm gets to shoulder height. Raising the arms is more then just bicep movement, there's a shoulder girdle to consider...

By the way, I think she looks like Madeline Stowe if any of you know who that is.

hrgiger.. the first thing i thought when i saw this was.. "this must be the first time anyone's ever tried to model madeline stowe" it definetly looks like a larger breasted, darker skinned version of her..
The hair looks a bit funny at the ends. Maybe the belly button is too round?? She looks friendly though :)

Everybody looks friendly when they're naked.
Well, except for your everyday just transported back through time, cybernetic organisms.
haha
I must admit that the pose makes me her look a bit like a blow up doll on helium :) Are you going to give her pubes??

Not enough definition in the buttock area. She has not so much an *** rather she has legs that extend into her back.
that's what I find the more disturbing in this model.
apart this I think the arms are a bit too short.
else it's a good work, especially for a first model…
