View Full Version : Camera Mapping - Edit Tool handles or...

Hi,

In a few words, is there a way to move the points of an object in Layout with some handles or something similar (to make it easier than with the edit tool, and to constrain the move to one axis at a time)??

I don't know, maybe with nulls or bones attached to points? (then how do you attach the nulls or bones to the points?) :question:

You'd have to create a new weight map with only that point at 100%, the rest at zero, then assign that map to the bone in layout.

That would be useful for just one point...I can't use that method for multiple objects with 4 points and more (camera mapping simple volumes)...

yeah, camera mapping is one of those really genuine problems you run into in lw where having modeler separate from layout ends up being a showstopper.

honestly, using a separate app just for this one task will save you a lot of pain.

Take a look at Layout Mesh Edit Tool (http://www.newtek.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98839).

Thanks for the tip but it seems that the link(s) are broken (I searched on google). Anyway, I suppose it's the same kind of software than Realviz ImageModeler ?
In which case, I've read that in order for those softwares to be functional you need more than 1 picture of the object to rebuild it in 3D space...

@dee
This is great...unfortunately I'm on Win XP 64bits...:cry:

Thanks anyway :)

In order to be accurate, yes. Image Modeler can be used with one image iirc, it's just not as accurate as with 3, which is the point of the software; but it can be done just like you would do it in lw. In other words it would be a substitute for modeling in-camera in lw, but no more.

There's also the Edittool in SoftFX, Proton did a video about that a while ago.

Yes, I mentioned SoftFX in my initial post, the problem being that there are no handles to constrain on an axis so when you move a point, you can align it with the picture but in the 3D space it makes inaccurate shapes (like distorted cubes and such).
...And I like my modeling to be accurate, even for camera mappings...:)
