I'm running Ozone with Lightwave.

I would love to know if there is any way to actually "fly through" clouds.

If there is how do you do this?

Is there any representation of clouds within layout?

Right now it looks like a fancy sky tracer 2d gag and not any actual physical cloud layers or objects that I can interact with... i.e. fly a plane through a cloud or a camera through a cloud etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can fly through the clouds, all you have to do is place the clouds and/or camera at the right height. You do have to select an atmosphere with some volumetric clouds, though.

There is no representation of the procedural cloud layer in Lightwave (might be in Ozone 4) so you kind of have to do lots of lowres tests to see where your camera is.

Which version of Ozone are you using? I think it has to be 3 or 4 to get the volumetric and/or spectral atmosphere clouds.

Keep in mind that the rendering hits a wall once you fly through the clouds, and you need a lot of antialiasing because it gets very noisy inside the cloud layer. But I have done it, and it looks pretty good.

He is using Ozone 4 on LW 9.6 UB.

here's how I get it to work - it requires some trial and error. I am using the Cloud Front Spectral preset in Ozone 3 (I dont yet have Ozone 4)

Thanks for the reply man.

The problem I'm having is if you tilt the camera in any way it seems to lose the clouds.

Maybe it's just because I'm in the wrong position, I don't know.

But it seems like if I tilt down the clouds go away.

Any thoughts on this?

I'll have to admit I've never seen this happen. It could be something with LW 9.6 and Ozone 4? A Mac issue? Do you have an older version of LW that perhaps can be used to test with? E-on's plugins all seem to work well with LW 9.3.1...

I have had the ecosystem / atmosphere just refuse to render (black) but never had it where just the clouds vanish.

8 Core Intel Mac, Mac OS 10.5.7. LW 9.6 UB, Ozone 4 = no problems (well ok lets not be totally idiotic it is an E-on product after-all) but clouds survive tweaks camera pans et all. Im sure you know this but I'll state the obvious anyway, when you load a new preset or tweak an existing one, on exit of the dialogue box you are defaulted back to the Ozone camera and need to toggle back to the scene camera manually to get back to where you were

My biggest problem with Ozone is the brutal network rendering support.
They send you licenses for seats but in reality you bought render nodes and the license keys are totally different. Calling TS in oregon gets you this wacked out lady who can't answer any questions at all it seems. Blah!
E-On. What a joke.
