Hi all,
We speak to this prolific ex-Disney instructor who pays for meals by scribbling on napkins, changes his Dalí-esque paintings into 3D and teaches animation and LightWave to anyone who'll have him... :)
You can read the interview here: http://www.newtek-europe.com/uk/community/lightwave/toms/1.html

Graham is one of the nicest guys I've met in quite some time. I remember when he first started teaching LW and Philip had brought him by the frog office in Austin to show him around...and he was just so jazzed about art and lightwave.
Then when i met him a couple of years later...the passion had only intensified.
Keep up the great work Graham...your passion has a profound effect on people!

Yea, me and two other of my friends had the opportunity to have lunch with him when they were doing the Lightwave seminar in Chicago last year.(was it last year or two years ago?). The one that Lee Stranahan hosted. Nice rig demo Graham had, I still use it.

That's too funny. One of my professor's mentioned him to me when I told him I used lightwave. I could never find his work. Then I see this and he mentions my professor in his 4th question. I sent my prof the link...too funny....
Very talented guy though.

Yep Grahm is a great guy. he even mentions me in the interview. I showed him LW while he was still at the Disney Institute. Pat Grogan and I also got to take one of his drawing classes! Very cool! I can't draw water but I was doing some cool stuff after the class!!

Thanks all for the kind words, and thanks to Graham for providing me with such good material to work with! I've known Graham for a number of years and it seems daft that I didn't interview him before this since we talk for hours whenever we're on the phone. As far as the format goes, can you see any improvements that can be made richpr? There was some discussion a while back about not having loads of LightWave-related questions right at the start and I've tried to vary it, but I'm always open to suggestions...

PS. Did anyone download our bundle of stuff from Graham?
Actually, I skip most if not all the LW feature related questions like. I use it, so I know what I have or want.
I read these interviews for inspiration for my own work, or for getting to know the people behind the art or behind the forum nick names.
Of course if they have some interesting technique to share, that is also something I like to read. And I love the combination of finished work and WIP Lightwave screenshots.
Cheers,
Marc
Oh, and the goodies are a brilliant idea! Some might be more useful than others, but still - very nice, especially when scenes were actually used in productions (like with "The Bill").

BeeVee, I know what you mean - Graham is a master of the old-fashioned art of conversation, and just great to kick back and talk with for hours! I look forward to when we can get him back to the States for a visit! :)
Ben, your the man !
Really nice to see some activity over at NewTek Europe !
I know I told you a couple of things during 3d festival, sorry, did not mean any harm.
have only good things to say about the latest interviews, and this thing with free stuff is asome.
Have learned a loot from them.
And the Graham Toms interview, amazing !
been trying to contact him for a couple of months about "bull ****" and now I was able to.
Thanks Ben !

Hej Nicklas!
No worries, I didn't take any offence at 3DF - after all, you came out for dinner with us didn't you? :) How's it going with your animation?
Chuck: Yes, Graham and I have long chats, but usually it's about art, education, religion and politics rather than LightWave! :) Do get him over to sunny Texas, I think he'd be keen...

The animation is done but I'm about to send it to the "sound people" right now, I let you know when it's all done.
BTW. I'm moving to London so I/you nead to change my details again. address and so on over at newtek europe.
But I get back to you when I know where I'm living : - )
Take care !
ps. Looking forward to this weeks interview

On a side-note and out of curiosity, but does anyone know what font that is on the page? The font that is used for Tom's name, at the top.
Cheers
